All staff have a duty of care to the children they work with and to their fellow colleagues and as part of this duty of care should be familiar with all school policies. Staff must behave in a professional manner and act as a strong example for the children in our dance school. They must be approachable to both parents and children, listen and take into consideration what is being said. No favouritism should be shown towards children and all children should be treated equally. No racist, sexist or discriminatory comments should be used and the teacher must use age appropriate language. The teacher should teach only what they are qualified to do so and only ask children to perform skills within their capabilities and that are safe to do so. Teachers must be organised in their lesson plans to offer the best service to our children including working towards short, medium and long term objectives. Teachers are expected to attend regular staff meetings, first aid training and keep their chaperone licences updated. Assistants should follow the lesson plans set out by teachers and be proactive wherever possible.
