We offer Ballet, Tap, Freestyle, Contemporary and Acro. Graded exams 1-5 are offered in Ballet and Tap as well as Medal Test Exams in Freestyle. Exams are taken with the IDTA and each student receives a score our of 100, their individual report form, certificate and award. Exams are recognised by Ofqual and therefore carry UCAS points to be included on university applications. Exams offer class structure, a goal to strive for and a sense of achievement once complete. Classwork assessments are available for anyone who would prefer not to take a graded exam. Although we can offer Contemporary graded exams, we prefer to keep these classes creative to allow the children the opportunity to explore their own choreographic voice. See our non syllabus class page for more details. Please see our full timetable below; new starters would need to discuss the most suitable class with Elaine dependent on previous experience. Children tend to start Grade 1 around the age of 9 or 10 as a guide. Our Ballet classes also incorporate the Progressing Ballet Technique which supports the students’ strength and conditioning and we encourage the children to do additional exercises at home so a pilates band and pilates ball are useful. Pointe work is introduced on an individual basis and is dependent on many factors including ballet technique, strength, maturity, general fitness (ie. previous injuries) and natural foot shape.
