To give our students a diverse range of styles, and to expose them to a variety of choreography, from time to time we invite in guest choreographers to work with the students. It is hoped this will give them an insight into the world of a Professional Dancer who has to be as versatile and adaptable as possible.

Laura jane BA (Hons) dance

Laura Jane studied Contemporary Dance at the University of Leeds and also has experience of African dance which she incorporated into our Contemporary classes, one of which then used these ideas in their show dance 'Circle of Life' from The Lion King.

Sophie Hall BA (Hons) Dance

Sophie is a graduate from the London School of Contemporary Dance as well as just recently achieving QTS. Sophie taught at our 2015 summer school and has since came back in the Autumn term 2016 to take our Contemporary classes for 4 weeks. 

Lizzie Klotz BA (hons) dance

Lizzie trained at the London Studio Centre and has recently returned from Israel where she was performing with a dance company. She is continuing with her career in the North East, both performing and teaching. Lizzie joined us for two days of creative dance at Summer School 2015, and also choreographed two Contemporary pieces for us in the Autumn term, working with our Grade 4 and 5 Contemporary classes which we took to the Northumberland Platform.

Catherine muckle BA (Hons) dance

Catherine studied at the Northern Contemporary School of Dance and has recently came back to the North East to begin her career as a Performer and Teacher. She is currently performing with various companies both here in the UK and internationally. Catherine is also a qualified Pilates Instructor which our Grade 4 and 5 Contemporary classes have benefited from as she recently took some Pilates workshops with them. We hope to have Catherine back in the future to choreograph with the students and wish her well in her professional career. 

Michael Heatley BA (Hons) Dance

Michael has been working as a Freelance Choreographer for the last 10 years in and around the North East. He has taught workshops at Dance City and the Theatre Royal, he is Resident Dance Teacher at Stagecoach Theatre Arts, New College Durham and Youth Dance Tynedale. He has also done a lot of work in Primary and Secondary Education focussing on encouraging boys to dance. Michael visited our school in 2014 when he choreographed two pieces for our Grade 4 and Grade 5 Contemporary classes.
