Elaine Lilburn A.I.D.T.A BA (Hons) Dance (School Principal)

Elaine has over 12 years teaching experience.  She has taught in various dance schools, mainstream schools and Dance City.  She attended various dance schools where she gained qualifications with several dance associations including The Royal Academy of Dance and The International Dance Teachers Association.  She trained at Newcastle College where she gained an HND in Dance, and Northumbria University where she gained her degree.  Whilst training, she worked with national and international choreographers, and performed at The Newcastle Playhouse and The Northern School of Contemporary Dance.  She also studied alongside her degree with the IDTA and is now a recognised teacher with them, holding her associate membership.  She started teaching ballet at Waterworld leisure centre in Prudhoe in 2001 and as numbers grew, she decided to open the school in 2005. 

 

 

Melissa Walker BA (Hons) Dance

Melissa joined the school in January 2011. She has a degree in Dance and her Pre-Associate 1 in Modern Jazz with the IDTA. She is now studying to become a full time Primary School teacher.  She has teaching experience at a variety of dance schools and through the council. Melissa teaches all Saturday classes at the East Centre.

 

 

 

 

Stephanie Murray BA (Hons) Dance GTP StephMurrary

 

Stephanie joined the school in 2006. Although she no longer teaches at the school on a regular basis, she is still involved in the school's exams and shows, and covers classes occasionally.  She studied Dance at Sunderland University where she took Contemporary, Ballet and Jazz techniques.  Stephanie is Head of Dance at Benfield Secondary School. 

 

 

 

 

Leanne Binns BA (Hons) Dance

Leanne teaches our Saturday morning classes in the lounge.  She has had a variety of teaching experience and specialises in Contemporary and Street.

 

 

Teaching assistants

Rachel, Lyndsay and Sophie, three of our senior students are currently assisting with some of our younger classes.  They have been attending the school for 7 years and are currently studying Grade 6 Ballet, Grade 4 Tap and Gold Freestyle, alongside Pointe Study and Contemporary techniques.

All of the staff have current Enhanced CRB disclosures.
