The ‘Elaine Pygall School of Dancing’ was established in 2005 and currently has 31 classes running each week in the heart of Prudhoe as well as our new 'Dance with Mammy' classes in both Prudhoe & Cramlington. We pride ourselves on the quality tuition we deliver which is evident in our consistently high exam results.
We are part of the International Dance Teachers Association and all our teaching staff hold qualifications with the board. Whether you are looking for an extra curricular activity to enhance your child's social skills, a physical activity to keep your child healthy, or looking for the skills which could later develop into a career for your child, our school can offer all this. Our staff strive to get the best from our students & do so in a friendly, approachable manner. Dance exams are taken with the International Dance Teachers Association & can be taken from 4 years up to a professional level or to a teaching level depending on the route the student takes. Graded exams are recognised by Ofqual & have a credit value on University applications.
To encourage confidence and performance skills, full theatre shows are held bi-annually at local theatres, and the years in between a smaller scale show is held in a local school for classes not working towards exams. We hold a 1 week summer school each year and we also get involved in community events. We also have Junior and Senior Company Dancers who perform at external events as well as some competitions. Dancers who are invited to join these teams usually train with us in all styles of dance and are very committed to their dancing. To enrol your child, or to find out more information, please phone me on 01670 732435 or email me. Please note it is advisable to phone in advance of your child turning 3 years old as the school has large waiting lists for these classes.
All new starters are welcome to pay weekly for three weeks to decide if they want to continue. Thereafter, term fees are payable on a termly basis. Fees can also be paid via a monthly standing order to break down the cost. Uniform items are only compulsory for exams and shows. All costumes are provided for theatre shows by the dance school as we regularly fund raise. You may be asked to provide items which either the children already have or could be worn again.
30 minute class = £3
45 minute class = £3.50
1 hour class = £4
Private Tuition = £10 for 30 minutes
Private tuition is available at any point through the academic year by arrangement. This may be in the case of finishing touches in the run up to an exam or it may be that some one to one time is needed to go over steps learnt in class. It is rare that private tuition is needed as most of our classes have either a Teacher and a Teaching Assistant or two Teachers, so we are able to offer one to one tuition on a weekly basis in normal class time.
